You don't need a visa for Macau or Hong Kong either (they're semi-autonomous regions), but you'd need to buy a visa from the Chinese embassy to be able to visit the mainland. You can fly from Birmingham, Manchester or Heathrow to Hong Kong for around £500, then it's a short ferry trip to Macau. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
