Maldives closes hundreds of luxury resort spas

Recommended Posts

They already have. At the Copenhagen conference in 2008 they were complaining that because they had been digging holes in their Islands to get building materials to build all the new hotels, spas, tourist resorts and roads they wanted, the sea was filling the holes they had made.

This, of course, was the fault of the rest of the world and they should pay compensation.

But surely they could convert the insulting Western facilities to something more suitable to people with a mindset from the Middle Ages and get planeloads of tourists from their fellow Muslim countries. Thus the situation they find themselves in is nothing to do with the Westerners whose cash has paid for their tourist industry to be developed in the first place, in fact they should ge grateful to the West. Additionally, their fellow Muslims will only need to pay the conversion costs, so they will be quids in as well. So that's another set of people who should be grateful for what we've done for them.
