Odd, that the definition for accent doesn't include, "a diacritical mark..."

Dropping an unnecessary extra letter is just good sense. That the Americans thought of it decades before us doesn't make it any less good sense.

Actually, I'm rather fascinated by this and can't believe how influential American TV is. For God's sake. How much of it do they show over there?

 

It's on all the time, on many channels, in a lot of cases it's simply better than UK made drama.
