Cuts in benefits - lots of people will be in big trouble

Recommended Posts

Also, we are not talking about large familys, this would also force drug abusers, people spending all day in the pub to change their ways.

Its hard to spend everyday in the pub when you are short of cash.

Just ask many full time workers

The only people you tend to see in the pub are the old retired blokes with a missus at home who can feed a family for £20 a week by cooking from scratch with market sourced food.

The new rules would not apply to current people with large familys, thats why I suggested a line in the sand of April 2012.

After that, a maximum of £10,000 per annum only, people would then make the choice to only have the amount of kids they can feed, or face serious problems.

Lets be right the equivalent of £192 a week tax free is not to be sniffed at and is still lots of money if you are not doing any work.

The current crop of large familys would diminish between now and the next 18 years, and so the cost of keeping the feckless would go down in years to come.

By putting a limit of £192 a week, people would be forced to reassess how they behave

How would they choose which kids to feed? the fat one mondays and wednesdays, the skinny one rest of the week?

Eh..?

Quote from love_rat:

"However, on a serious level if there is a family who has about 10 children then obviously they would need at least a 5 bedroomed house and with 10 mouths to feed (plus 2 adults) it simpy will be impossible to feed that amount of people of 25k per annum."

Also, isn't this just a cut in housing benefit?

Who are these people which spend all day in the pub? alcoholics perhaps..then they need proper rehabilitation, cutting benefits isnt going to make any difference to a medical condition.

We are not talking about cuts to current claimants.

We are saying that from April 2012, to all new parents (not current ones) you get £192 a week maximum.

Thats it.

The ones who currently have a mini football team, continue to be funded, but this money eventually will stop as the kids turn into adults.

As for druggies etc...again, if they have less money, then they have less money to buy drugs.

That doesn't answer the question of what will happen to children born to future irresponsible parents.

My answer is.

The family will suffer serious financial hardship.

Very similar to if a working man decided to have lots of children. After 3 children, many working people have to stop because they cannot afford a home with more bedrooms
