Shakespeare in Sheffield with Griffin Theatre Arts

 

 

Griffin Theatre Arts are delighted to be working with the Lantern Theatre as part of this spring’s Shakespeare festival at the theatre. There’s loads going on and you can visit the Lantern Theatre’s website or call 0114 255 1776 for full details of the festival and to book.

 

Two really exciting activities that are taking place during the festival are the Shakespeare in Performance workshop and Shakespeare in a Week: Comedy of Errors project for 14 – 18 year olds, both with Griffin Theatre Arts. For Adults

 

Shakespeare in Performance Workshop 29 January 2012

 

Led by professional Theatre Director and Griffin Theatre Arts' Associate Artist, Helen Leblique, this practical workshop will explore key exercises and approaches to Shakespeare's texts used by the RSC’s professional ensemble; including methods to bring Shakespeare's plays to life, keeping it fresh, grounded and accessible.

 

Helen has spent the last two and a half years working intensively with the RSC. She has worked with directors such as Michael Boyd and David Farr, and recently re-mounted the RSC's production of The Winter's Tale in New York. She has also worked with Shared Experience, English Touring Theatre and the Orange Tree, Richmond.

Cost: £18.50

For 14-18 Year Olds

 

Shakespeare in a Week: Comedy of Errors 13 – 17 February 2012

 

A fun filled, intensive and creative week, in which participants will work with Griffin Theatre Arts’ Artistic Director to create a whirlwind version of one of Shakespeare’s funniest plays, Comedy of Errors. Participants will develop performance skills and confidence whilst experiencing professional rehearsal techniques and finally performing their masterpiece for friends and family!

 

A perfect way to spend half term!

 

Cost: £55 per person

Workshops: Monday 13 – Friday 17 February 2012 (10.00am – 5.00pm)

Performance: Friday 17 February 2012 (5.30pm)

Shakespeare in Performance workshop was a brilliant success, with participants describing it as "fun", "inspiring" and " "A thoroughly enjoyable workshop which gave real insight into the performance and interpretation possibilities of Shakespeare's works. Many, many thanks!"
