andygardener
What there is a system that criminalises thousands of children for 'offences' that would be dealt with over here by a stern talking to, detention, or possibly even temporary fixed term exclusion. Surely you can't pretend that that's an acceptable or admirable idea? Our kids and other kids in most areas of Sheffield are not routinely armed. Which is a good thing. Different case out in Texas. So I'll not judge the juvenile law enforcement situation on the odd unreasonable cases picked on by the Grauniad

Bear in mind also that the most frequent charge is 'disruption of class' - behaviour which can and should be dealt with by other means.

But we're not dealing with hundreds of thousands of illegals from one of the most violent countries on the planet entering our school system. We just have a few thousand courtesy of somalia, and look how that's working out crime wise in sleepy Sheffield. People, juvies especially that come from lawless hellholes where you need to kill to survive will not stop en mass being violent the minute they reach civilisation. Some will, many won't. When confronted with 3rd world attitudes 1st world law enforcement clearly needs to adapt to the people they are dealing with.

Halibut
Are you not aware of the carnage happening in Mexico? You were specifically claiming that 'hundreds of thousands' of Mexican illegals are flooding the Texan school system. Have you any evidence of that? Edited to add - and even if you did (and I suspect you don't) how would it be relevant? As ferno has pointed out there is no reference to Mexicans in the article. ferno
Many juvenile detention centers in the US are privately-owned. When everyone is a competitor, and everything--including the means and willingness to imprison others--is a commodity, this is but one consequence.
