Miliband calls for Goodwin to be stripped of knighthood.

Recommended Posts

It seems that Miliband thinks it a good idea to strip Fred Goodwin of his knighthood only a few days after the government announced it was looking to do just that.

Labour leader Ed Miliband has said, in retrospect, it was "clearly wrong" for former Royal Bank of Scotland chief Fred Goodwin to be knighted.

Sir Fred, heavily criticised over the bank's near collapse, was honoured for "services to banking" under the previous Labour government in 2004.

And labour didn't take it off him when rbs went pear shaped in 2009. They did let him keep his pension and give him a big fat bail out cheque with no conditions whatsoever.

if i had my way he would be stripped of more than his knighthood

Yes, his pension would be an appropriate way to start paying off the money he owes us.

But it's not just Goodwin, is it? What on Earth did that fat thug John Prescott ever do to become a Lord?

And as for 'Baroness' Warsi, 'Dame' Tanni Grey-Thompson etc. etc., blatant minority box-ticking.

They did not "let him" keep his pension. There were no legal grounds to remove it, so they didn't have any say in the matter.

Indeed true. Not stopping the current lot renegotiating public sector pensions ;););)

Personally I can't see the point of taking it off him, what, nearly 3 years after the horse has bolted.
