Bigthumb
It seems that Miliband thinks it a good idea to strip Fred Goodwin of his knighthood only a few days after the government announced it was looking to do just that. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-16645824 Labour leader Ed Miliband has said, in retrospect, it was "clearly wrong" for former Royal Bank of Scotland chief Fred Goodwin to be knighted. Sir Fred, heavily criticised over the bank's near collapse, was honoured for "services to banking" under the previous Labour government in 2004. taxman
Interesting article here by Robert Peston questioning why so many business leaders get gongs.

And labour didn't take it off him when rbs went pear shaped in 2009. They did let him keep his pension and give him a big fat bail out cheque with no conditions whatsoever. grafikhaus74
if i had my way he would be stripped of more than his knighthood Yes, his pension would be an appropriate way to start paying off the money he owes us. But it's not just Goodwin, is it? What on Earth did that fat thug John Prescott ever do to become a Lord? And as for 'Baroness' Warsi, 'Dame' Tanni Grey-Thompson etc. etc., blatant minority box-ticking.
smithy266
Lord Coe? Or perhaps you need to be able to run fast to be a Lord.
HeadingNorth
And labour didn't take it off him when rbs went pear shaped in 2009. They did let him keep his pension They did not "let him" keep his pension. There were no legal grounds to remove it, so they didn't have any say in the matter. Womerry2
It's a bit of a non-story. As far as I can tell, Mr Goodwin is most commonly addressed and referred to in less complimentary ways. A misplaced knighthood surely means that nobody ever remembers to mention it.

Indeed true. Not stopping the current lot renegotiating public sector pensions ;) Personally I can't see the point of taking it off him, what, nearly 3 years after the horse has bolted.
