Dog attacks girl, 6

Yeah, course they are.

A comment which does kind of sum up your blinkered argument. There are no figures to support any claims that owners of the breeds specifically mentioned in this thread or any other are of one type of person as is always suggested.

I'm a 'type of person'

Oh dear...

The only breed I've ever owned is a Staffy, apart from 'Missy' who is now with my Mum having been left there when I moved out. Shes half staffy, 1/4 english bull, and 1/4 'pit bull' (whatever 'pit bull' means) and looks like an overgrown Jack Russell, and is scared to go outside in the dark, in the rain, and is terrified of even the ironing board, shes well 'ard! Bless her, poor old girl!

Sounds dangerous.

Kill it!!!!

Interestingly the same image of a Staffie was used in another story surrounding an attack on another dog this time http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1359776/Family-devastated-adopted-RSPCA-dog-savaged-chihuahua-death.html. This particular animal is obviously innocent of both attacks but it's the meanest looking one they could find on google images, possibly.

Ive seen that picture before too.

Stunning looking creature, its just a shame theres a good chance if you follow the lead to the end youll find something with less brains, more aggression and not as handsome.

Given the types of people who tend to own these dogs, I don't the threat of a slap on the wrists if they are caught with the mutt off leash, will act as much of a deterant.

+ there is always a risk of the dog escaping.

That's the crux of the problem, any knee-jerk reaction would only serve to punish the law abiding and be ignored by the scum who own and let these dogs run about.

I think there's a saying "Only the law abiding fear the law".

The apologists will soon be on saying it isn't the dogs it's the owners, just like the gun lobby do when people shout for more restrictions on gun ownership!
Amazing isn't it.

I'm sure many of these attacks take place as a result of responsible owners taking well-socialised and controlled dogs for a pleasant walk in their local woods.

Heaven forbid that somebody would tie the responsibility for out of control dogs owned by scrotes with the scrotes themselves.
