Using their own watches would cost how much? People in other jobs are expected to have their own watch.

 

I can honestly say I've never been offered a job on the basis of whether I own a watch or not.

 

Your figures assume every officer should be issued a new watch every 2 years

 

That's the time period we're comparing figures for. I don't have a 4 year average (you'll notice the original per-year total varies rather than remains static).

 

If they get a bulk deal on casio watches at £2 each then they only have to last an average of 4 years

 

A £2 watch may or may not last 4 years and may or may not remain remotely accurate in that time.
