The Inn at Troway..

After having been to the inn at troway more or less weekly for some time we went last night to find it closed for a function. There was no mention of it the week before and nothing on their website. If anyone is planning a trip out it might be worth checking.

Instead we went to the Angel at holmesfield and had a much nicer meal.

Not a sensible business model!

It isn't indeed. Me and some mates once went out to WEST - as German brewpub - in the East End of Glasgow - not to far from Parkhead, in the middle of winter. The taxi dropped us off, left, and we walked up to place only to find it closed for a function. On a Saturday night.

We tried to call the taxi back so got no answer and ended up walking back into town in the snow thru a particularly dodgy area. Not happy. We had done similar and checked the website beforehand as well. No mention of it.

It's fine renting out certain areas or rooms for functions, but the entire place on a key night when you're not exactly close to anywhere else decent is a bit poor. And is bound to put off people trying again - just in case.

Watch it! No such thing as a " dodgy area" in the east end! You were simply in "The East End"! (Dennistoun boy telling you so)

Now The Drum, Easterhouse, "Chateau du Lait" or Possil. There's dodgy for you!

LOL. Sorry mate. I should have remembered - the whole of the East End is dodgy innit? My bad! :)

On a related, back to topic note, the last time I was drinking in at the Inn at Troway it was a lovely day and I could look across the valley to the dodgy area around Gleadless / Norton that I grew up in! Just for balance :)
