TimmyR
I just fitted a tow bar to my vauxhall astra. Just attempted to fit the trailer we inherited on to the back and the ball is too big. Anyone got any info on tow ball sizes? The trailer is old so I imagine is something imperial and I have a metric ball. Thanks
Cavegirl
Perhaps you could use an angle grinder to take off the excess metal and make it fit if it's just a small amount? Alternatively you could buy a new trailer fitting or tow bar from this site: http://www.towingandtrailers.co.uk/

That's just what I thought too:hihi: I'd imagined when I clicked, I was going to find out once and for all whether or not that was reason why Hitler did what he did:hihi:

Thanks You should be able to buy replacement ball or socket separately either from a scrapyard secondhand or towsure brand new
phawley
Are you sure you have pulled the handle up as far as it would go to release the catch. BTW definitely ignore the advise about using the angle grinder that would be very stupid and dangerous.
phawley
If the hitch definitely won't go on the ball then the ball must be imperial size 50.8mm so it will need changing for the metric size, £6-50 from Towsure.
