HeadingNorth
Why we measure some distances in metres, but motorway signs are in miles...? The marker signs are in kilometres; it's a start. All directional signs are still in miles, though.
Phanerothyme
I reckon the USA will adopt the metric system around about the same time that Britain changes over to driving on the right Smoots are not Imperial, SI or metric units. A Smoot is precisely 1701.8 millimeters or 0.93 fathoms if you prefer.
alchresearch
We just need to measure everything in pints, swimming pools, bus lengths and the size of Wales and we're sorted!
Hairyloon
Or they could just sell you petrol in gallons so you don't need to do your 4.54609188 times table in order to work out how many gallons you bought. For the purpose, the 4.5 times table is a close enough approximation. You're not telling me you don't know that one! So to you and me a pint = ½ litre You've been taken in by the supermarket con then. ½ litre is about 15% less than a pint. Funny how, when they metricated the pint bottles, the prices stayed the same.
HeadingNorth
You've been taken in by the supermarket con then. Quite obviously not, since he quoted the exact figures before giving his rule-of-thumb approximation.
barleycorn
2 litres at £1.20 is better value. More content for less money. Yes, easily. The 2 litres is better value. Lol. Think you both need to invest in a calculator. 4 pints at £1.30 = £0.57/L 2 litres at £1.20 = £0.60/L jb
