Mid-Devon district council says the event will give housing officers a chance to talk to council home tenants so they can explain changes to rent and 'maximise their income'. But perhaps the subsidy being spoken about is the housing benefit. All rent rises will be covered by housing benefit. In SYorks people will get a 10% rise to their housing benefits, as their rents increase 10%, and thus they will have less incentive to work. This will in turn push up the rents of private properties as the local LHA rates are based upon rents in the local area. (The majority of which will be increasing by state decree by 10%).
