berlingo
does anyone know where t even start looking? I want something nice but not ott, we're just normal folk, not royalty! lol. Don't want to buy from the internet as you need to try on. What shops are there in and around Sheff?
Strix
if you can travel as far as Doncaster, there's a shop selling Jaques Vert and suchlike at the outlet. Perfect mother of the bride stuff without being over the top
berlingo
Hey strix, I will have a look but it's not as much the price ( though not got thousands ) it's the whole frillyness of everything I've seen, I'm happier in my jeans and t-shirt so am really struggling
Love2print
Why not just look for a nice outfit that you would normally wear to a wedding, rather than looking for a mother of the bride outfit? My mum isn't the sort of woman who wears frills, flower patterned dresses and over the top hats. And she didn't at my wedding, she wore a simple ivory suit with turquoise coloured accessories (no hat, feathers, or frills in sight). My mum is more of jeans/shirt sort and frankly if she had turned up looking like a "typical" mother of the bride I would have thought she had lost her marbles. berlingo
I have thought of that and tbh I have considered a trouser suit or a two piece, just not sure where to go :-(

Love2print
Having it tailored made might be the way to go. Have you tried department stores for off the peg stuff? Places like Debenhams and House of Fraser tend to stock wedding/party type outfits.
berlingo
I am going to have a good look this weekend, just hoped some one knew of some magic shop that I would find just what I wanted without searching for weeks! Lol, Thanks
NewBiz
Have you tried new Image at Middlewood. Not that I'm up on these things, being defo a jeans and Tshirt type myself too, but had several people sing its praises.
