Not really - the opposition have a shadow for each cabinet post, so if there wasn't an equalities minister in the cabinet, Labour wouldn't have a shadow equalities minister.

I can't argue with that though the box ticking comment refers to Miss Lonely's bringing this piece of trivia to public attention.

Perhaps they should just shut the bar then? I wonder how many non-politicians have a bar available at work?

Almost every factory in the country used to have a social club on site - their demise alot to do with how antisocial people have become, oh, and the fact that most of us now drive home :D

MPs are far more likely to travel by public transport or cab, so presumably they don't have the same considerations as those of us living outside of london

How many people are allowed to have a pint or two during their working day?
Nobody's prevented from doing so after office hours, and in a job like their's, work doesn't actually ever really stop - so how are you going to legislate for that?

No it isn't - that's what 'business lunches' are, and why companies employ salesmen to actually go out and talk to customers face to face instead of just bunging catalogues in the post to them

how is that a majority? That is lunches and it doesn't mean that the pub has to abide by the rules of an office environment anyway. If that were the case they wouldn't be serving beer. Although if they are spending all their working hours in the pub that could explain a lot.

I don’t know how many factories you have worked in but I would be interested to hear of an example of one with a club on site.

Many have clubs for the evening / weekend, cricket, football, sports hall etc but the idea of a crafty pint during the working day for a factory worker is laughable.

it is still a pub for socialising in. I often go to the pub with colleagues but people who call it networking are never invited-I suspect that is usually the case.

If it was to be used for business it would be an office

I f you go to The Office pub at Netherthorpe everyone will be happy!!

When they are in parliament presumably they are working and shouldn’t be drinking …….. perhaps your local police station should have a on site pub or how about a pub in the DWP or any other public building.
