Chris Huhne speeding charges/resignation etc

Recommended Posts

Dunno but I doubt it..I think basic traffic offences don't show up..don't know about an enhanced CRB...

Minors like speeding, ignoring signs etc will show up on an enhanced CRB which you would need for say a taxi licence, minibus for driving children about etc...

He only pleaded guilty when he knew the game was up and that the case would go to a trial that he is reported as spending over £500,000 to get thrown out.

If he'd done the right thing 10 years ago when he committed the crime he wouldn't be in the position now of having lost his political career, his credibility, his dignity, his relationship with one of his sons and potentially his freedom for a while.

And the irony is that he lost his licence a few months later after being seen driving while using his mobile 'phone so needn't have bothered having his wife take the points.

Whatever his political hue, it's a shame that the country is to be deprived of what most commentators and many constituents deem a proficient MP for a silly mistake. Perhaps he suffered a moment of hubris; we'll never know.

Yes I heard that too about the mobile! Must make it stick in the throat even more :-)

As for your rather generous eulogy, the alternative view (and probably more accurate one) is that the people of Eastleigh have been lucky enough to have a serial cheat and liar, not to mention bad driver, removed as their representative. Maybe now they could have somebody honest, what a novel idea!

Let also not forget this is the man who fought the last election on family grounds, putting out leaflets saying "I cant believe its been 28 years since I got married," and "Family means the world to me," whilst banging his secratary behind his beloved family's back. The man is scum and deserves to be remembered that way.

Hardly a 'silly mistake' Max - Huhne is a congenital liar and guilty of moral cowardice rather like his wife.

Both of them are multi millionaires so hardly 'white van man' unable to pay for a cab, are they?

Hence my allusion to his hubris.

Oh please. He's not being persecuted for a speeding offence, that is a silly mistake - he's been persecuted for lying to a court, and perverting justice. That's an incredibly serious matter, it involves deceit, over a period of time, and deliberate ongoing deception. That's what the issue is, not some piddly little bit of driving too fast.

What was proficient about this guy?Her was born into privilege, having attended Westminster School, gaining a first in PPE.Sounds a bit like Cameron. Was given the brief of the green agenda yet seems a very active motorist. He has had an affair with his employee.Perhaps this is where he has proved his proficiency? And he ended up marrying Katie Price for heavens sake,a famous writer.
