MrSmith
It’s estimated that in the year 0000 there were250 million people and that by 1800 there were 1 billion, assuming the average age at death was 50 years, at least 10 billion people died before the year 1800. Since 1800 at least another 4 billion have died.
Jeffrey Shaw
In the year 0000, there were only two people (Adam & Eve); so I guess that you mean the year 1 CE (otherwise known as '1 AD').
Balpin
...according to the BBC website today: see http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16870579 What is frightening is that in my lifetime the population of the world has increased threefold. When I was born, 2.5 billion, currently 6.9 billion. In only 60 years. Over 4 billion in that time Yet to get to 2.5 billion took 50,000 years. Jeffrey Shaw
Either way, it seems that there are only 7 thousand million people now; whereas 107 thousand million people have ever lived. So not too much overcrowding yet.

An age old question I know, but where did Adam and Eve's children get their husbands and wives from?

Balpin
An age old question I know, but where did Adam and Eve's children get their husbands and wives from? That tale actually dates from a real situation in humanity you know. At one point in our history the population of humanity actually fell to a few people. This was about 20,000 years ago. We are all descended from those few people. All races and types of human come from those few.
