Muldoon
I wonder how much of that profit will be coming off the price at the pumps then ?? give you a clue, sounds like hero but will not make you feel proud of them being British....

Did you expect to pay more last year to cover for the gulf oil spill? Filling stations sell fuel to be competitive in an area regardless of profitability. So last year BP made a massive loss and as a result so did the exchequer. This year they will be contributing billions to the UK through taxes so be thankful that when you pay a scandalous amout for your fuel at a BP site the cost pays for your healthcare. Buy Total at the same scandalous price and you sponsor the French.

Tony
Superb! A huge world class British owned that's making profit, investing, creating jobs and wealth all over the planet, and paying taxes. It's a fabulous change to hear such good news. If you're concerned about the price of petrol, have a word with your MP to demand they reduce the scandalous amount tax on it. BP are probably as irritated as you.

GrannyGranny
Let's pay over the odds for fuels just so greedy people can make billions of quid in profit Who do you mean? The Goverment? BP paid £930m in tax to the Goverment in 2009 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10282777 Then add all the income tax the employees pay and then the subsequent VAT etc.. they pay when they purchase goods apid for out of their BP salaries! The top earners in BP are paid a huge amount but its a private company making huge profits and the last time I checked it was a free market and they are entitled to reward that success. Being a free market means you can shop around for petrol as well.
Magilla
Let's pay over the odds for fuels just so greedy people can make billions of quid in profit Yeah, all those pesky "greedy" pensioners who rely on returns from their pension portfolio, invested in BP should really get a grip, shouldn't they!
