Maxster
http://ripwire.netscapist.com/discussion/24/digital-region-to-go-bye-bye That didn't last long. I spent some time last year trying to get service. I went to a DR meeting and can honestly say that I had more fun slamming my fingers in our front door. All the people I met just seemed a bunch of amateurs trying to promote what is essentially a local government wide area network. The only customers they had last year appeared to be Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley council; great three organisations with very little money. This just seems to be a great opportunity missed. anywebsite
It looks like nobody thought a marketing budget might be important.
Maxster
The meeting I attended at Barkers Pool had a number of SF businesses with great ideas of the benefits DR was going to bring the problem was either the people running it or the ISP's failure to understand the basic concept of supply and demand. The demand was definitely there but no one had any idea how to supply it in a timely fashion - straight over their heads.

Guest
If I wanted optical fibre from sky they would charge me £20,000 for me and the adjacent houses. Obviously i am not going to be paying that.
Rupert_Baehr
'European money may need to be repaid'. I wonder whether that will cause a few sweaty collars?
