Kalcrest Sheffield Steeldogs take on Milton Keynes Lightning in a huge Cup Semi-Final game on Wednesday, 7.30pm at iceSheffield

This will be a great battle between two of this season's well-matched teams as they strive to pick up the first two points of this two-legged Semi-Final Cup tie, with the end prospect of reaching the Final and some silverware.

Andre said “ We are really looking forward to our first Cup semi-final. All the guys are excited as this is a great chance for them to play for a trophy and that is why they play the game.

While MK is a seasoned campaigner and winner at the top level, for Steeldogs to reach this Cup semi is a huge achievement in only its second season and a complete turn-around in their League positioning from 12 months ago.

Milton Keynes are a top flight team and tough to play against with their strong defensive unit and quality netminding. Steeldogs however can match them in defence, along with the League's current top goalie, Ben Bowns, protecting Sheffield's net.

So it will be a contest of the forwards pressuring the defence and finding the back of the oppositions' net. Games between these two teams have been relatively tight contests of good hockey but with Sheffield edging the series this year.

However, Andre Payette will not allow his team to be complacent and will be firing them up on all cylinders to clinch some goals and the two points at home before heading down to MK next week.

Andre urged all Sheffield fans to come to iceSheffield on Wednesday to give plenty of loud support to their Steeldogs team.

Andre said “ I appeal to you all to bring as many family and friends, work colleagues and neighbours as you can to this midweek game.”

“Your support is really appreciated and vital to the Steeldogs to help them take a win down to Milton Keynes, as it is like adding an extra player on to the ice. Let's make our Dog Pound in iceSheffield as uncomfortable for the opposition as we can, with your great support.”

Go Steeldogs....GO!
