willman
If it is a more complicated case then the Executor(s) should seek appropriate legal advice. Which is occasionally why the bill will be more than few quid. Will writers often don't offer "free" storage so they charge for it, and also charge for probate help in advance. 90% of solicitors expect a will kept in storage with them to be executed through them at an average of 6% of the estate value. Kadogo
I enjoy, sometimes, these threads that start off with a clown in a Bank etc. making an unusual comment, and then the expansion of the topic. Most enjoyable.

Is that right Willman? 6% is daylight robbery in nearly all cases. Do many people fall for that in your experience (as a family we've always elected trusted family members who do it for nothing, apart from legit expenses)

In some cases they are the worse of the lot, at least i have my documents drawn up by a solicitors firm.
BananaSplit
My will was written about 20 years ago so could do with updating. Willman, what sort of cost would I be looking at for a very straightforward one? ie/ the lot goes to my son.
sedith
Willman (forum name) writes wills, why not PM him and ask how much he charges. Ask yourself, what would Chuck Norris do? .. Chuck Norris would get himself a proper solicitor if he'd any sense!

Chuck Norris doesn't cheat death, he beats it fair and square. and also Chuck Norris died 20 years ago, Death just hasn't built up the courage to tell him yet.
