Karl Lagerfeld says Adele is 'too fat'.

Mon petit chou, sois sage, hein.
La maison de retraite t'as encore une fois laissée toute seule devant l'ordinateur sans supervision?

Ils vont m'entendre, ceux-là...

:D

PS: lis-donc ce qu'a écrit vwkittie. Elle a raison, tu sais.

The reason for the double standard is because thin is seen as desirable and associated with self-discipline and fat is regarded as undesirable and the result of laziness, letting oneself go and self-indulgence. To tell someone how thin they are is often seen as a compliment whereas to tell someone that they are fat is seen as an insult. Either way, I seldom comment on anyone's appearance other than to say something along the lines of 'you look nice' etc.

Blimey, that's hilarious...:hihi:

Am shortly to be on a computer ban at the old folks' home!

We'll get told off if we carry on in French. I've read it and responded with reasons as to why I think that there is a double standard.

Not quite, but valiant and worthy effort.

The old folks' home has left you alone at the computer again?

They're going to hear about it...

PS: Why don't you read what vwkittie wrote. She's right, you know.

...and Karl's attitude is still growing on me :P:D

...Adele has genuine talent and a genuine body she's much more typical of real women then the girls who Lagerfeld designs for....

I do dislike the term 'real women'. Women's natural body shapes are as varied as can be. There's nothing inauthentic about women whose default body type doesn't fit the curvy uniform of the supposed 'real' woman.

Yep and my response was, yes - am shortly to be on a computer ban (after being left unsupervised and ending up on here). Oh well, never mind, forget it.

Was it the bra comment that did it?!:hihi:

I believe Adele writes most of her own songs. There is emotion and feeling in her voice.

Slightly off topic i know, and more suitable for the entertainment section of the forum, but i don't seem to be out of line with the "off topic" theme now.

Well, I've learnt something today (3 things.)

1. There is a fashion designer called Lagerfeld.

2. There is a singer called Adele

3. She is slightly overweight.

I'm now a little better informed (though none the wiser. ;))

Lagerfeld and Adele have received some free advertising.

I don't suppose either of them is unhappy about that.
