ferno
Interesting stuff: News of the World sources back up Guido Fawkes claims about photographs Politics blog said paper paid £20,000 for pictures of William Hague's special adviser in gay bar, but never used them http://m.guardian.co.uk/media/2012/feb/09/news-of-the-world-guido-fawkes-hague?cat=media&type=article Staines's claim is potentially explosive because the now-disgraced former News of the World editor, Andy Coulson, was acting at the time as the Cameron government's press adviser, and is likely to have been involved in what proved to be a successful battle to save Hague's job. Rupert_Baehr
Daily showers with the schoolmasters at Eton and Harrow ? I think you may find that the Masters do not take showers with the boys. The Masters have hot showers; the boys need cold showers.
ferno
If Hague is gay normally I'd say it's his business, between himand Ffion. BUT he was absent for all votes on equalising the age of consent; voted against gays in the military; voted to retain section 28 (and put a three line whip on it - even sacking two front benchers who refused to back it); voted against gay men and women adopting children. If Coulson blocked a story and photo that would have incriminated Hague then it's a murky business indeed.
Rupert_Baehr
So are we tory bashing on this thread for being too gay or not gay enough? The focus of this thread is far too narrow. Could that be an indication of the width of Livingstone's mind? Surely the Lib Dems are also his enemies (or enemas - I wouldn't know.) What about the famous Private Eye Headline: "Buggers can't be losers"? Or: 'Vote Liberal, or I'll shoot yer dog!'

ferno
William Hague, when leader, sacked MP Shaun Woodward over his views on gay rights. Woodward refused to support his party's policy of retaining section 28. Which makes today's revelations all the more interesting.

In what way would a photograph of Hague's Special Advisor attending a gay bar "incriminate" Hague? It isn't a criminal offence to be gay, or go for a drink in a gay bar. You don't even have to be gay to go in a gay bar.
frank ryan
it's not about being gay - say it loud, gay and proud, -it's about hypocrisy and that was ken's point - hague (whose straight routine has become laughable) aggressively opposed gay rights and , it seems, was involved in the suppression of a photo suggesting his 'advisor' is gay, that makes him hypocritical and corrupt - get out in the open william, it's the 21st century - but perhaps people won't vote for you , not cos you're gay but cos you're a liar
