Why do women wear high heels?

As someone said earlier, they lengthen the leg and can look fantastic. We could all walk in them back then IIRC ! With bouffant hairdoes they could add about 6inches to your height.

And accentuate the breasts and derriére.

I have a lot of heels and can walk in them with no trouble, but I do prefer the feeling of my feet being flat on the ground. I prefer the way I walk in heels though, the way they look, and the added extra 5 inches or so to my height.

My biggest reservation about wearing high heels out is that the pavements are in such an atrocious condition that they get ruined so easily. :( I always try and take care to avoid pavement cracks but it's not always possible.

I feel like I should wear them in certain circumstances e.g. a wedding. Other than that never wear them, trainers or walking boots only :)

I find walking in heels difficult and it hurts my feet after a while, plus I'm tall enough without them and being taller in heels than a lot of blokes makes me feel self concious :(

Come out with me one night- you'll feel positively small :)

The only problems that I have with walking in heels, apart from the fact that they make my back hurt, are to do with the surface and that affects all people in heels.

Why do women wear high heels when they know they can't walk in them?

To make themselves taller, probably pay too much attention to what fashion dictates, my mother used to wear them and ended up having to have her bunions removed.

Take a look at some of the elderly women walking around with bad posture, in their heyday stilettos were the height of fashion.

Well, we were walking up West Street after the panto last night, and NOT ONE girl we saw had lower-than-six-inch heels on. Most were struggling on freaky Ga-Ga platforms, they'd gone to so much effort to get dolled up and then ruined it by going out dressed as Rupaul!

A taxi drew up near us and four girls staggered out. Two of them look just like cross-dressers, towering above us. My old Dad, bless him, actually did think they were transvestites! We thought he was joking, but no......(he's not experienced the sights of West Street on a big night....)

I regularly get accused of being a bloke in drag, mainly because of how tall I am. Women don't get to my height (apparently!) and I can be anything up to 6'8" when going out for the evening, although it's rare I bring out the heels higher than 4" these days (so that's only 6'7").

I think that frequent misunderstandings would put me off socialising. In my case people think I am a foreigner, because I have an unusual accent(for Sheffield).
