Skirmisher
Labour run Durham council have spent over 5k erecting a bus shelter where there is no bus service. Classic Labour incompetence.
Chris_Sleeps
The full story is a little more complex, but equally as daft. You'll be waiting a long time... The council - already facing budget cuts of £190million - blamed a communication mix-up with bus company Arriva for the stop to nowhere. The red-faced council claims that it had checked with bus company Arriva before the work started, but when it was finished, the firm said services had been withdrawn. The red-faced council claims that it had checked with bus company Arriva before the work started, but when it was finished, the firm said services had been withdrawn. Why is it complex, Liberal Democrat county councillor Mark Wilkes said the council knew this shelter didn't need replacing back in August last year
Chris_Sleeps
I'm not bothered about party politics, especially for Durham council. Attack them all you want.

I simply asked you why you considered it to be complex, as you stated.
Murphy Jnr
I used to waste my hard earned cash on items I really didn't need until I discovered that I can pay the council to do it for me, It's pricey but they achieve it with considerable ease so i'm happy with the arrangement. Agent Orange
I simply asked you why you considered it to be complex, as you stated. Communication mix up. It's not the council's fault the bus company misinformed them.
Skirmisher
Communication mix up. As it shows in Chris's link, the council knew way back in August that the route was no longer in use, communication mix up is no excuse, there is no excuse, they are just incompetent, pure and simple, someone needs sacking when things like this happen. If this is the case, then surely the council will have proof of this, minutes from meetings,e-mails etc. the council should then be able to place the costs at the door of Aviva. Why don't you ask the council to provide them to you... you should be ok submitting a FoI request
