Surely not an American! Lets stick to British and preserve some form of patriotism. Even Bono and Bob Geldof, as experienced as they are at diplomatic relations ( are Irish) so they should be excluded. If this president is to replace the queen it doesn't need to be democratic we would just need someone with a good moral compass who does not have affinity for one party more than another-which is why the present system works well. We get people trained for the role from birth that don't have to take part in a big popularity contest which inevitably leads to people who lust for power winning the day. Its the reason I don't see the point in an elected house of lords. A president could just be a figurehead as the queen is. The Monarch doesn't dictate, but they do have the power to do so.
