amandakm
A friend is trying to sell a kemble grand piano, its about 5 years old, she has inherited it and doesn't know if there are specialist sellers etc, any advice would be handy as i believe its worth quite a bit of money. Have looked on ebay, cant find anything similar. Many thanks .

Mandem
You could try Allan King Pianos 357 London Road. He specialises in pianos and violins. Been there for ever, at least 40 years. Telephone 01142 581487
kittenta
Personally I'd contact proper music shops rather than looking on Ebay etc. They will come round and tell you what they would pay for it and then it's up to you. I'm sure there used to be one around London Road area?
margarete
When I was selling my piano some years ago I contacted a piano tuner. He came round and told me the price I should ask for it. Over the next few weeks a few people contacted me and came to look at it to see whether they wanted to buy it. - They were people who had contacted him about wanting to buy a piano and he had established what sort of piano and price would be suitable for them. The last one of these decided the piano and the suggested price were fine for them and the sale/purchase went through and everyone was happy. I paid the piano tuner 10% of the price as his sort-of commission and for his work in valuing it and finding me a buyer. (I expect the buyer probably paid him 10% too, but I do not know any details about that.)
Shefflich
You could do worse than have a word with John Millington (Millington Music, just below Grosvenor Hotel). It may appear to be a small shop but John really knows his stuff when it comes to pianos and is a very nice, helpful chap. (I'm assuming he's still there, I moved from Sheffield just over two years ago)
