Let us Build a Wall

Recommended Posts

No, will have to make your own way out, just follow the rest of them down.

Mark my words, come scottish independence, you will not walk for Jocks down here.

Scotland will be a wasteland, as it is now really.

Whilst the ideals of an independent Scotland sound in theory like a good idea the practical side of things doesn't compute. For example the population issue, compared to England Scotland is sparsely populated therefore short of whacking up taxes to something mind numbing to pay for everything they get now for a much lower cost then the idea of Scottish independence may be short lived but then again gulible as our various goverments have been maybe we will have to pay more in order to support the indepence thing...

Looks like things in the old country have declined considerably if one is to believe some of the views on here. What has happened to the Ipad generation?

Time was when Englishmen and Scotsmen fought side by side in wars all over the world, took pride in the Union Jack, the monarch and the words Great Britain.

Scots nationalists, English nationaliists? Dont make me laugh. It's not nationalism, just petty small minded regionalism

It is worse than that Harleyman.

As is usually the case, the USA stands aside in bewilderment.

Capitiaism is in is death throes, Europe, its Mother, is the one suffering most.

The knock on will affect you before long, dont worry.

Then where will we be?

Because it would prevent a whole load of perfectly pleasant people who live in the home counties from getting to work and back. And prevent all of us going somewhere we want to go, i.e. London and the channel ports.

Scotland on the other hand, went there, got rained on, got bitten by midges went home, no real loss.

But seriously what's the rationale for the wall where you suggest?

You call the people from the south of England "perfectly pleasent people", not my experience. I lived in Luton and Dunstable in the early 70's and worked in the London area, after 4 years I went back to Yorkshire to normal folk. Those that live down there ar loud, selfish, self oppionated and materailistic.

So in answer to your question why the wall I propose is to stop the infestion of thease sort of people to the rest of the uk. Not all the people who live in that area are of the same mindset sadly most are.

Now lets deal with Scotland, from 1977 I lived back in Yorkshire until 2004 when I moved to Scotland. Yes it rains up here and it also snows, but the people are second to none we have space and time for each other, sorry you were bitten by midges, but I suggest you went to the West Coast.

I live on the east on the banks of the Moray Firth and just for you it is snowing here.

Go to your channel ports, I will be going to the Orkney Islands and fish Loch Ness.

Have an oppinion on Scotland when you have spent some time in the country.

What will replace capitalism? Communism? Bin there done that.

Socialism? Bin there done that.

What caused the economic crisis in Europe? I'm not all that clued up.

It seems that Greece had been living high off the hog for a decade or two.

The government were funding generous benefits, 35 hour work weeks, good pensions, low taxes. Gross national expenditures were exceeding gross national incomes however. What was the GNP for Greece over the past few years? Nowhere near that of the UK, France and Germany I'll bet How long could that go on for before the day of reckoning ariived?

You and I could never manage our financial affairs like that. Neither can a country

Small wonder that Greece looked like it was ready to default on it's loans.

Maybe the story of Greece is the story of much of Europe with the exception of Germany maybe. The Germans export very large amounts of high quality products and have just signed a lucrative trade deal with China.

The troubles in Europe have caused ripples in the US economy but all signs are that the economy in the US is on the upswing with less people claiming unemployment benefits, number of jobs increasing and sales of high priced merchandise the best in 4 years.

Whether this will continue who knows.

I see that Angela Merkel was recently in China and a top EU politician (forget his name) currently visiting. Maybe China will end up bailing out the EU.

It would be of great benefit to China anyway. The last thing they'd want to see is their European markets go down the toilet

Im spent two weeks in Edinburgh a few years back. Fantastic city. Loved every moment of it and the people were as hospitable and friendly as anywhere else.

Sorry to do a snippy, but please accept my apologies.

There has to be an alternative.

We must devise one.

The three great powers, America, China and Europe must work together at this point.

It is vital.
