They were invited to the farm by the religious sect. They were suspected of converting semi-automatic AR15s to fully automatic m16 type weapons. Given this how likely do you think it would be that the converted weapons would be well hidden if the ATF had accepted the invite? The intension of the state was violence. The vast amount of fire power they had at their disposal. The fact that Keresh had been tipped off about the impending raid and told his people to arm themselves whilst getting into defensive positions.
