pottedplant
I agree. I don't see why kids shouldn't be introduced to civilised socialising, but encouraging them to run riot where there's hot food and glasses is detrimental to both the kids and anybody else they encounter (and how do they know the difference if they're taken elsewhere?) Exactly - if their early experiences of eating out involve having to have bouncy castles as "entertainment, (and being allowed to run back and forth to it) no tablecloth, place settings , glasses etc (in case they pull it) it really is no wonder that some blanch at the thought of eating where children go. ......but its' not the kids faults if they don't know any better. angrymumtwo
I have taken my two to the Three Merry Lads but they are 99% well behaved 99% of the time. I never took them later than tea time anyway, I agree there's nothing worse than having some screaming kids in your ear.

Darth Vader
I dont know about S 6 but I had the unfortunate experience to go in the Wyvern in S14 today and it was full of young "Mothers?" I use that term very loosely, prams everywhere, nappies getting changed, mess all over the floor. Who ever the landlord is wants to get his act together, Ill never go in there again :hihi: That was the Gleadless Surestart Centre, the pub's across the road. dondada
I hope not. I'm single, no kids...I hate kids...I really hate kids in pubs, they shouldn't be in there, keep them at home. I've considered your suggestion. No.
dondada
what sort of 'major problems' have you been met with? I sat H on my knee for a meal in a restaurant once when it turned out she was too small for their high chairs. Other than throwing you out claiming your child would be a fire hazard or something, I can't imagine how a 'major problem' could prevent you from dining anywhere Depends what you class as 'major problem', I suppose. If you want to go out and spend your hard earned having an enjoyable meal, then being made to feel like you're a problem by jobsworth staff, then that would be a major problem for me. Not saying that was the case here, but it's happened to me before.
dondada
I like well behaved children very much.....................it is the ones who are allowed to run riot in restaurants/pubs whilst the parents look on and think it is acceptable to let them. Exactly this. And, in response to the OP - Las Iguanas has already been child friendly to us though obviously it's in town...but there's parking opposite. Bobs123
I'd be interested to know exactly what the major problem was that required the OP to leave the pub, as a barman I can't really think of anything that would have caused a major problem apart from being difficult with staff. Anyway.. normally chains like Wetherspoons/Ember Inns seem to be mainly child friendly.
