Think on the positive side, it may make some think twice about using their car for short journeys and people may just walk instead and get fitter in the bargain. The shops near me are only a 5 minute walk away but most around here seem to use the car to get to them. If the cost of food goes up then that may have a beneficial health effect making some people consume less. People may start using the tram or bus instead. The reserves of oil may last longer. Less pollution. The ones I feel sorry for are those who are self employed and use the car/van for work. BTW littleman, just who are "they"?
