vinyl Posted February 21, 2012 Author Share Posted February 21, 2012 not sure it was the first time in years, but I think it was the biggest monthly surplus for a few years - possibly due to the number of people paying their self assessment tax liability before the 31 January deadline and the effect of the cuts in public sector expenditure taking effect it is a stumble in the right direction though According to the stats retail sales for January 2012 were up 5.3% on January 2011, and they in turn were up 4.4% on January 2010.
