What have the conservatives/coalition done for you?

Recommended Posts

All they've done is sell everything off and moved production abroad and tried to turn the UK into a holiday state ... with this weather I ask you! We sold off our assets and we're buying back finished goods at a higher rate .. great!

Anything else?
Here are a few:

Scrapping ID cards

British Bill of rights, hopefully to replace the ECHR

Freezing council tax

Common sense review of health & safety laws

Confirming rights of householders to defend their property against intruders

More health support for service veterans

Stopping rise in NI

Abolishing Home Information Packs

Confirming not to join the Euro

Annual limit on immigration

Reassessment of IB claimants

Increases in tax allowance and capital gains tax threshold

If they've sold 'everything' off, it must be along list - can you give many examples?

All the utilities - gas, water, electricity, telecoms

This means that there is no national planning or infrastructure, and the private sector makes profit from our essentials. If the state had kept them, they could, for example, use those profits to invest in other things, or take a smaller profit (or make a loss) to help families in recessionary times. They could even use pricing strategies to drive a green agenda. If they hadn't flogged them off.

All transport

Trains and buses are public goods - we all benefit if people use them, and as such they should be cheap - as part of the benefit (reduced congestion etc) is received by all people, part of the cost should be paid by all people - i.e. fares should be low if we want people to use the things. The arguments re: profit (above) apply here too.
