He is far to busy being a good capitalist and raking in the dosh. One of the appointments he has taken up since losing out in Labour's leadership contest was at Vantage Point clean energy investments who are is paying him the mighty sum of £23,210 a quarter or a £92,840 p/a for consultacy work. But if people are willing to pay him to talk to an audience he'd be a fool to turn it down wouldn't he and many other celebrities/sportsman do the same. Why waste your time in the shadow cabinet getting tarnished with Ed's brush, when you can spend the wilderness years on the gravy train and return after the next election to a party in urgent need of a new leader without baggage. Of course in the meantime his speaches to the Fabians make sure that his name keeps coming round when folks start to analyse his brother's dismal showing. It reminds me of Michael Portillo - hated by the public and media when he was in the cabinet, but he's now becoming a national institution with his Great British Railway Journeys programme. I have no specific love for politicians from any party, but it makes me laugh that people will slag anyone who is making money down, no matter what they do, I personally think its jealousy.
