spider1
Regarding mould after cavity insulation? Not seen it on the inside but on the new extensions with 100mm cavity insulation, I am noticing Algae growing more on the North and East side of homes than before. I am putting this down to the walls not suffering from heat loss so the walls are remaining damp for longer promoting algae growth. Yes quite possible as well there will no air flow on inside of wall to help dry it out as well. . Would think no air flow in cavitys is sooner or later going to cause big problems A garage built of a single brick 100mm wall does not have these problems so there lies the proof. kymama
Just wondering if anyone might have an idea of how much a DPC survey and a DPC treatment cost. It's for a mid-terraced house - both the front and back main walls on the ground level. A friend of mine is buyng a property and her surveyor said there was no DPC installed when the house was built over 100 years ago, and suggested her to get a specialist to look into it ..... the surveyor's verdict -- "No original DPC Excessive dampness was noted to plaster surfaces of rear external wall and the party wall with the adjoining property to the right in the kitchen at low level Excessive dampness was noted to plaster front wall surface at low level to the front corners of the house Extensive re-plastering and decorations may be needed after fixing" Assuming it would cost at least £2-3K, right? Thanks Edited October 13, 2016 by kymama typo

Ella-Jane
Hello, advice/recommendations please :-) Just had a survey done on the house we are currently renting. We are buying the property from our landlord. There are isolated patches of damp and black spot mould (caused by condensation) the ground level at the side of us is higher where damp has been detected. I'm after a damp proof company to come and give me a quote for work to be carried out. Has anyone had any good/bad experiences of can recommend someone amazing. Many thanks
