Why do we dip biscuits into our tea?

If someone offered you a plate of warm soggy biscuits I'm sure you'd probably decline, yet we think nothing of sticking a biscuit into a cuppa cha before eating it. Why do we do this? Does it actually taste good? Or is it just a habit taught from being young?

 

And we all know the dangers of losing your biscuit in your brew...

 

So why do it, why why why??? :?

I knew when I started this thread that there was a serious explanation. :suspect:

 

And biscuits soaked in brine sound lovely...

Because it's a tiny pleasue in life with equally tiny risks (biscuit sinking) :)
