Let's look on the brightside of things.

For an ordinary 365 day year my daily costs are

Council tax £4.90

Car tax 57P

Car insurance 68p

House insurance 82P

TV licence 38P

Total £7.39

So today I've got a spare £7.39 to spend.

Yippee.

Who says things are austere?

I'm off to the pub

Or, if you're salaried rather than on an hourly rate you are earning slightly less EVERY DAY this year.
