HSBC complaints - where to send to?

Recommended Posts

Anyone got the address? also ombudsman if poss...

Basically, they are costing a small fortune in phone calls etc. Just checked my itemised phone bills and they charge a PREMIUM rate call @ 35p a min to phone customer service.

Start of Jan, I couldnt transfer money between accounts because of a system error logging in, it was also a bank holiday so I could not visit a bank- that cost me £17. Plus another £5 on top of that to phone HSBC, going through the It dept. to sort the issue out.

They are basically costing me every month, they are my biggest utility cost which is totally wrong as they make X amount in interest every month too!

There is no way round the phone costs it as its one of those 0845 numbers.

Why are these people so greedy?:(

I'm entrenched in HSBC with a Business account and a personal account. They make everything so hard to do though.

For instance you can't transfer from a Business account to a personal account online - this has to be done over the phone - it costs me between £2 and £4 to do this depending on the call.

Change banks now and stop grumbling.

Might be tough. I have two accounts like I just said. Both have overdrafts.

I dont want one account at one bank and another somewhere else, makes things even harder.

I just want fairer pricing hence a complaint. If everyone complained HSBC would have to fall into line.

Done it:

Dear HSBC,

I am writing to you in regards to two fee

issues on my account.

Firstly, I transfer money from Business to

personal accounts. I cannot appear to do

this online, therefore I need to make a

phone call to the 0845 number. Having

checked my itemised billing, it appears

you have been charging 35p a min, which is

far too much. Infact HSBC are my biggest

utility cost in this respect.

Secondly, the issue relates to a fee of

£17. At the time I incurred this fee it

was a bank holiday, and furthermore due to

a system error I could not log on to your

site despite repeated attempts. The

situation meant I could not possibly

transfer money - yet I have been charged

despite attempts to manage my money in the

correct manner.

It cost me a further £5.90 +vat to resolve

this matter with a phone call.

In conclusion, I am regretably considering

my options with regards continuing banking

with your company. In resolution I now

require the £17 fee recinded and an offer

of compensation. Which I will consider in

due course.

If a suitable resolution is not found, I

will elevate this complaint to the FSA

within 14 days of your reply.

Please reply within 14 days of this email

with an offer for a swift resolution to

this matter.

Yours sincerely .........

Sent and received. Lets see what they say.

Are you phoning from a mobile? It's never cost me 35ppm to phone telephone banking.

I do like your threat to leave - you have two overdrafts so I can't see them caring.

Yes, from a mobile like a lot of people I dont have a phone line.

It's not a hollow threat. I will leave. I do what I say. Always.

They should be bothered because they make interest, and will continue to make more and more interest from me as the Business grows. I'm a cash-cow that needs to be kept sweet if you want the juicy milk!
