Privatising the Police

Recommended Posts

A 26-page "commercial in confidence" contract note seen by the Guardian reveals that policing activities such as:

Investigating crimes

Detaining suspects

Patrolling neighbourhoods

as well as managing engagement with the public could be put out to private tender

I just wonder what fellow forummers think?

The breathtaking list of policing activities up for grabs includes investigating crimes, detaining suspects, developing cases, responding to and investigating incidents, supporting victims and witnesses, managing high-risk individuals, patrolling neighbourhoods, managing intelligence, managing engagement with the public, as well as more traditional back-office functions, such as managing forensics, providing legal services, managing the vehicle fleet, finance and human resources.

Oh yes, this can't go horribly, horribly wrong, at all.

They've been preparing the public for a while with this one, feeding stories into the press about police early retirement, gold-plated pensions etc... Standard softening up techniques and a compliant media doing the grunt work.

But we've also been hearing about how corrupt the police are too. How they've lost touch with the public. How the public has lost confidence in the police. Is privatisation the answer to those problems?

It'll be a disaster

"I'm sorry sir, we will not be responding to your emergency call as we do not see it as being profitable for our shareholders. Good night".

We will return your call within our service standard of 3 months. In the meantime you must ask you not contact us further because our monkey is nearly dead.

I wonder whether Murdoch will bid for the franchise? It seems to tie in perfectly with his existing investment strategy.

:hihi: That's so true.

I wondered whether Veolia might? Should be ok, as long as they don't have to take anyone in above 5ft and weighing over 60 kilos, or come out in the snow.

This is a worrying prospect.

It is another example of how we are moving backwards.

This is not a simple case, we are seeing it on all fronts.

The complacent attiude of of us all is going to be our death.

We must organise against these things before it is too late.

We now have Policemen being taken off the streets, to do office work, for instance, as all the office workers have been sacked, as per Camerons instructions.

So, next time you want a copper, dont hold your breath.

He will be filling a docket in for some fuel or somthing.

What a shambles this Cameron set up is.

The Tories would Privatise the Monarchy if they could. Put all of the resources of the country into private hands and the people that are able to buy them are conservatives and their cronies.

The jewel of the crown was the National Health, but with that one well under way they will now be looking at what else can go to the highest bidder.
