Guest
Get some magnesium sulphate paste ('drawing ointment') from the chemist. It will bring the boil to a head. Use lots of antiseptic when the pus has been removed (don't poke at it; it will pop when it's ready). Cover with gauze until healed.
Greybeard
I'd let a professional deal with it, - their services are free so why take any risk ?
Yellowrose
Ive used hot poultices made by using a facecloth soaked in hot water with a few drops of lavender or tea tree oil. Hold against the boil for as long as you can stand, keep refreshing the cloth in the hot water, eventually it will burst. Squeeze out all the nasty stuff until it starts to bleed then dab with antiseptic or tea tree. Make sure you boil wash the facecloth to kill the germs when youve used it - you dont want another! PS if the doc does anything they will probably give antibiotics. We dont all want to take these for a simple skin infection, thats why I would treat my own. Yellowrose
Just noticed you said it was on the neck. Is it a trapped hair follicle? My partner gets these around the neck in the beard area where he shaves. If this is the case, I usually pluck the trapped hair out.

sassy_1
Magnesium sulphate paste is what you need if it is a boil.
andywatton
Put a huge lump of toothpaste on it and leave it a few hours - will dry it out and bring it to a head, so it's easier to get rid of.
