He's come out with a lot of claims that are ridiculously to the point of lunacy - of course, that might be because he really is insane or it might be because he wants to make the courts think he is. He definitely isn't a Templar; but if (I don't know) he's claimed membership of the Templars, it would explain why bongo_fish raised the question to begin with.
