retep
It's Japanese. It's a long time since I studied and the last character is hard to make out, but the first bit is pronounced "toki". The last character looks like it might be 'me'....? If so then the word would be "tokime", pronounced toe-kee-mee. But I dunno what that means, or if it means anything. So I guess I wasn't much use! Thank you MWF and Joanl, It is a pourer in the shape of a bear that was said to have been brought back end of WW2, with links to Japan.

Joanl
Thank you MWF and Joanl, It is a pourer in the shape of a bear that was said to have been brought back end of WW2, with links to Japan. Another bit and although its mainly in Japanese, the pictures might be of interest. Maybe we could see your bear on "floggit" some day..... from Mark. Tokiwa (written as 常磐 in kanji) can also mean 'unchanging'. It is common as a company name, school name, and I even found a line of pottery http://utsuwakobo.web.fc2.com/tokiwa/23/tokiwa23-top.htm That might be who made the bear… or just another using this idea of unchanging (beauty). Again thank you, The characters in your link seem to be the same as on the bears bag, in the case of beauty its a bear only its mother could love.
