Former Labour MP Eric Joyce is reportedly being held by police after another brawl in parliament, just over a year since he was suspended from the party for a similar incident.

The MP for Falkirk was arrested at the Sports and Social bar in the parliamentary estate after becoming embroiled in an altercation with policemen.

"Police were called shortly before 10.30pm this evening to reports of a disturbance at a bar within the House of Commons," the Metropolitan police said in a statement.

"Officers attended and a man aged in his 50s was arrested in connection with this incident."

The man remains in custody, Scotland Yard said.

How do there folks get on the ticket to become candidates in the first place?

I'm not really sure why my thread has been merged. This is a totally different incident from the one in the thread title.

There was an interview on Sky news earlier where it was said he may be suffering from post traumatic stress from his time in the army.

He hasn't been in the army for 14 years. On Radio 4 this morning there was a news item that the proportion of ex-soldiers with convictions for violence was a lot higher than for everyone else. The next item was about Joyce being arrested for attacking a copper.

I hope he goes down for this. He was wheeled out by the Labour Party regularly 10 years ago to justify the invasion of Iraq because of his military background. He may get wheeled out regularly in future to argue for minimum price on alcohol because of his alcoholic background.

Obviously the price of alcohol in the Common's bars need to rise to prevent this anti-social behaviour.

No, the move would benefit their health ....etc

Can they not get rid of this revolting little labour thug once and for all? He keeps reoffending, he's clearly not fit, why is he still an MP?

He's not a little Labour thug ... but don't let that get in a way of your tantrum
