T 42
It seems leopards don't change their spots. http://www.politics.co.uk/news/2013/03/15/not-again-mp-arrested-after-yet-another-commons-brawl Former Labour MP Eric Joyce is reportedly being held by police after another brawl in parliament, just over a year since he was suspended from the party for a similar incident. The MP for Falkirk was arrested at the Sports and Social bar in the parliamentary estate after becoming embroiled in an altercation with policemen. "Police were called shortly before 10.30pm this evening to reports of a disturbance at a bar within the House of Commons," the Metropolitan police said in a statement. "Officers attended and a man aged in his 50s was arrested in connection with this incident." The man remains in custody, Scotland Yard said. How do there folks get on the ticket to become candidates in the first place? ---------- Post added 15-03-2013 at 13:06 ---------- I'm not really sure why my thread has been merged. This is a totally different incident from the one in the thread title. ---------- Post added 15-03-2013 at 14:37 ---------- http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=943901&highlight=eric+joyce&page=8 The mods are certainly clamping down on this one. Joseph Anton
Obviously the price of alcohol in the Common's bars need to rise to prevent this anti-social behaviour. The authorities also say there have been "significant price increases" in alcohol sold in Parliamentary bars, which are "now comparable to high street pubs". LeMaquis
There was an interview on Sky news earlier where it was said he may be suffering from post traumatic stress from his time in the army. He hasn't been in the army for 14 years. On Radio 4 this morning there was a news item that the proportion of ex-soldiers with convictions for violence was a lot higher than for everyone else. The next item was about Joyce being arrested for attacking a copper. I hope he goes down for this. He was wheeled out by the Labour Party regularly 10 years ago to justify the invasion of Iraq because of his military background. He may get wheeled out regularly in future to argue for minimum price on alcohol because of his alcoholic background.
