Halibut
Sexual politics. The rise of glam rock meant that it suddenly became a lot more acceptable for men to adopt elements of womens clothing and make - up. Gender stereotypes began to shift and change. Mick Ronson's sister told a story that after Bowie put his arm round Mick while doing Starman on Top Of The Pops people in Hull would come up to her and ask if her brother was a puff. JenC
I think the OP needs to be a little more informative; not everyone's following the bisexual thread to know what exactly is being dicussed. (And this subject matter is giving me a distinct case of déjà vu from elsewhere.)
melthebell
there wasnt no politics was there? was just people out to enjoy life? although glam rock paved the way for early uk punk, some related bands were also classed as bands of the street

Glamrocker
Sexual politics. The rise of glam rock meant that it suddenly became a lot more acceptable for men to adopt elements of womens clothing and make - up. Gender stereotypes began to shift and change. First error the "Glam" element was simply a extension of Bolans hippy look which he tarted up when he "sold out", the bands Sweet, Mud, Wizzard and Slades Dave Hill etc used to dress up to see who could be the most outrageous, failed artistes such as Gary Glitter and Alvin Stardust jumped on the bandwagon, very successfully as it happened especially Gary Glitter who was tho unofficial king of glam. The first successful artist to actually wear a dress in performance to make the statement you are alluding to was Boy George..Glam Rock was dead by then
