Gay marriage - 'shameful'?

Other religions, eh? Have a look at what's happening in Uganda, 84% Christian.

I see you've changed your user-id again. You change your user-id more often that most people change their socks.

Funny. You want to widen the debate to other countries and Suffragette1 wants to stay at home.

BTW, I've visited Sheffield Forum, probably for a couple of years now, but I've never posted before.

Probably because that will never happen in this country, the killing of homosexuals as sanctioned by the state. They are a lunatic fringe whereas clearly, the Cardinal O'Bigot has many who agree with him.
Do you have any data to support your claim that this is just a 'lunatic fringe' who agree with killing homosexuals, or are your views based on a presumption? It would seem quite the contrary in other countries, where whole villages turn out to watch gays being hanged or adulterers being stoned.

I'm talking about this country.

So you have no data to support your presumption. It is an act of faith for you. Fair enough, but you stated it as if it were a fact.

Are you saying that I am wrong then? That there is a significant number of people here who a) don't support the cardinal and b) would like to see homosexuals killed?

I'm opposed to any doctrine that says gays shouldn't marry. I highlighted this particular case as it was a big news story that's stirred much controversy.

As a Catholic myself it pains me when I see a church that I still have some fondness for shooting itself in the foot again.

Thanks for the reply to my question. Other posters have responded to my comments but there are just to many to reply to.

Well i'm glad you started this thread. In spite of my reaction,i feel i have gained much from its content. Hopefully i can turn that insight into something positive in the future.

The quote "still have some fondness" i can relate to. It would appear i have an attachment to the traditions of the church which i admit i can't always make sense of, and i will have to learn to shed that attachment and adapt to new developments.

and move on!

Instead of answering individuals posts I will give a combined answer.

A man and woman have massive physical differences whether called sex or gender difference.

A man and woman can create life.

Two men or two women cannot create life.

These are FACTS.

Many posters are disregarding these facts when posting their opinions.

Which part of the dark ages do you live in, Harvey, to have never heard of cloning?
