Frozen Planet - that was worth the fee itself, add to that all the other David Attenborough programme, the brilliant drama's they do, the nautral history programmes, Yes the BBC is worth it.

Frozen Planet, that was poetic nonsense... full of grammatical and scientific errors!

Well I used to work for BBC Worldwide and they are so integrated, it's like saying BT ain't BT...

Well in that case you'll know that the BBC Worldwide profits go back into the BBC supplementing the licence fee rather than going into some random person's bank account like all the other broadcasters (except C4).

Haven't you heard about the wages the BBC pays... and people complain about bankers...

And how much would those same people be paid working for the BBC's competitors? Most of the previous BBC directors who have gone on to work for ITV / C4 have done so with a hefty wage boost.

If you worked for BBC Worldwide, I hope you offered to work for free since it's part of a publically owned company, that's what most BBC wage complainers seem to think their employees should do.

[note: I have never been employed directly by the BBC or any of their subsidary companies]

LOL, I was on £11k, when I left I went on to £35k for the same job!

So you don't complain about the bankers then! Not with that argument you can't!

I'd ditch the license fee if I could... simply cos the BBC shafted F1 fans by going to Sky TV to prevent C4 getting the rights, and ditched Spooks. Aside from Dr Who.. they're the only things I watch on the BBC.

Would be cheaper for me to buy the DVD box sets.

Don't pay the license fee because I don't have a TV or any interest of the garbage that passes for entertainment nowadays. IT is about time this tax was removed and BBC tv was closed down.
See below.

The TV licence, while it funds the BBC, is not actually FOR watching the BBC, it is a licence to be allowed to operate something that can receive a TV signal .
Exactly.

muddycoffee no doubt has a PC that can't receive "live" broadcasts???

It doesn't matter if you use the facility...if you have it you need to pay.

Back on topic.....There's far more interesting programmes on BBC than ITV.

I don't pay extortionate prices above the licence fee for Sky, etc.

Freeview gives me enough choice....but it's usually BBC watched most.

Someone mentioned "Dramas"..

"Upstairs, Downstairs"......."Downton Abbey".....Oh and "Prisoners Wives"(filmed in Sheffield) have all been brilliant.

39p a day.....excellent value.
