Anyone been seen by atos and kept incapacity benefit/esa?

Recommended Posts

How can you be too disabled to work when you are working it might be volunteer but its still work and go see my doctor he will tell you im not fit to work but i chose to work i don't want to be discriminated saying i am disabled because i know i am fit and can work same as you.

Indeed, but as I've been saying for years, current anti-discrimination laws aren't worth the paper they're printed on IMO, cos the Government don't enforce them.

Oh yes they do.

Ive told you before, i work with plenty of disabled people, people with missing limbs and people with reall bad disabilities.

You talk rubbish with what you say and your are seriously in danger of putting people with disabilities off looking for work with your stories.

Stop doing it!

Its not right!!

ZIPPY: Zip it (only kidding) but accept that atos are not doing their job properly. My belief is because they are given some kind of bonus to take people off sick. this would explain why so many people are wrongly diagnosed by atos, and are subseqentially given their benefits back on appeal. Midwives, should not be diagnosing people for disabillity benefits. A doctor's statement, should suffice, and if there was any real doubt send them to another doctor, not paid for by the government.

If Atos conntinue in their position of power, the more deluded they will become, because no-one stands up to them. Even some MP's are embarrassed by the assesments (interorgations).

I know that not all HCP are midwives, its just amazing that any are.

i was on sick with blackouts for oer ten yrs saw these people last year got took of sick it said on my paper never had blackouts ect... lol yea right thats why you been paying me sick money for 10yr for blackouts and dizzy spells doubt they even check your application

and the medical was a joke aswell didnt bother appealing as i obviously could have done many many many people are going to end up being took of the sick

who actually are sick and need to be on it.

these people at atos get paid extra money to take people of sick

Did you get your blackouts investigated. There are numerous reasons for them which can be easily rectified once diagnosed resulting in a normal life without blackouts and dizziness thus enabling a person to live an independent life whilst enjoying th benefits of working for an income.

You should be assessed by your own consultant/specialist

Your own consultant will be a specialist in a specific illness, not a specialist in assessing your ability to do useful work. Moreover, and more importantly, your consultant is not, and should not be, a neutral and objective observer; he's supposed to be biased on your side. An assessor must be neutral.

Well said, that perpetual snivelling is immensely tiring and does nobody any good.

End of the day, we have a moral duty in society to aid the most vunerable and make sure they are supported and that is what any decent society should do.

But I object to my taxes being used by the workshy, so they can get tanked up in the daytime, or smoking canabis while I am being taxed to the eyeballs.

Yes, support then genuinely disabled and the sick. NO, to supporting the ones who have been taking the mick

Well said!!

Is ATOS neutral? Many people who have had dealings with them would claim they are not neutral or objective but actively trying to move people off ESA whether it's appropriate or not.

You should be assessed by your own consultant/specialist and your own GP's opinion should be sought. ATOS are paid by the DWP to shorten the lists.

In many cases Consultant Doctors do not have the skills knowledge or experience to undertake a proper functional assessment, this is why Nurses , Physios and Occupational therapists are more appropriate to make these assessments, this is part of what we do as a professional from day 1 week1 of our pre-registration education and training , otherwise why do other specialities doctors like to palm off anyone who is under our life long follow-up to our consultants if they are an inpatient ... and my consultant colleagues would be the first to admit they could not do the assessments we do because they were never taught it and simply would not do it often enough to maintain currency ...

GPs are far from objective and many are far too keen to get the med 4 pad out to get the patient out the surgery and to avoid abuse from patients and their significant others .

as for 'shortening the lists' this is a two edged sword, it;s quite clear from the opinions expressed by some posters in this thread they believe that 'disability' is a pass to a life sponging and a get out of jail card for being a pillock in discussions ... they seem to be unable to accept that people with a greater understanding of the issues by virtue of professional AND personal involvement might have a different viewpoint ...
