Jim Graham
This thread is littered with spelling errors, what the hell is going on? Either these folks aren't the intelligentsia or they are what passes for it. in·tel·li·gent·si·a "intellectuals considered as a group or class, especially as a cultural, social, or political elite." Origin: 1905–10; < Russian intelligéntsia < Latin intelligentia intelligence That rules me out.
Ousetunes
Lord Chaverley and Timo were among the finest contributors to these pages. I don't expect intelligence per se, just an opinion written in clear English, a level of grammar one ought to expect and hopefully a bit of humour. We get way too serious on here!! Phanerothyme
Off work with bronchitis at the moment so thought I'd return to SF for a couple of days to alleviate the boredom. Did it work? I hear laughter is the best medicine. Good to see your brain hasn't shrunk whilst I've been away! That's because I only wash it on the wool cycle! Get well soon too. Good to see your avatar popping up in the threads again.
HeadingNorth
I don't expect intelligence per se, just an opinion written in clear English, a level of grammar one ought to expect and hopefully a bit of humour. The level of grammar one "ought to expect" in casual comments on a casual forum, is just barely enough of it to make posts intelligible.

DT Ralge
Intelligence and "the intelligentsia" are related etymologically, but they're not synonymous. Lenin had some choice words about the intelligentsia. And depending on the direction of the wind, the words could be "ready, aim, fire."
