Cargo Easter Special @ The Fez Club 5/4/12. Feat D'julz & Maxxi Soundsystem

The second best thing about Easter is rotting your teeth with goo-filled Jesus paraphernalia. The firstest bestest thing is the parties.

So how do you eat yours? We eat ours at Fez Club on a Thursday evening. But are we calling this Easter Thursday? Or Good Thursday? Good Friday Eve perhaps?

Whatever you want to call it, the night before Good Friday is the start of the Easter weekend and fair game for a party. And we've got one hell of a party in store. Hold onto your creme eggs...

Cargo Easter Special at Fez Club

D'JULZ [ Bass Culture . Ovum . Circus Company . Poker Flat ]

MAXXI SOUNDSYSTEM[ Wolf Music . Futureboogie . Hot Waves ]

When a couple of Cargo bods ventured to FUSE in London in the hazy summer of 2009, little did they know that they would witness one of the most amazing nights of music in their partying 'careers'.

An outstanding array of talent was on display, with Alex Celler, Anthea and DJ W!LD all rocking the underground car park to within an inch of its sweat filled life. However it was the headline DJ who really stole the show... and that man was Parisian legend D'Julz.

It gives us the greatest of pleasure to present to Sheffield for the first time this bastion of house and techno. We guarantee this man will make you dance. You might think that's a given but there's a difference between occupying the dance floor while moving about a bit and REALLY ****ing going for it. In fact you might as well bring your P.E. kit as this will be a serious workout.

In short, D'Julz has been delivering the goods for 20 years. A good innings as someone so aptly put it. His Bass Culture night at Paris' infamous Rex Club has gone on to spawn a label of the same name and his continued output on some of the Worlds most loved imprints have all contributed to him being a mainstay in the Cargo 'must book' hit list.

OK so we have the veteran. Now we need the new kid on the block.

Enter Maxxi Soundsystem.

It's funny/wonderful how a blip on the radar can appear unexpectedly. To cut a short story long (and if my memory serves me right), Resident Advisor once featured a website that we'd not yet come across called InTheDeepEnd.com.au. So low and behold there is this wonderful feature on Sheffield re-edit machine Danimalswainger (we must digress to urge you to have a peek at this website and of course the work of said dog loving discomeister). OK back on track and sticking to the canine theme; while browsing InTheDeepEnd's wares, we came across a 'pawdcast' put together for the good people at Wolf Music. This 'pawdcast' was mixed by a certain Maxxi Soundsystem. A new name to us, so we gave it a whirl.

Needless to say this wonderful mix remained on heavy rotation throughout 2011 and became the soundtrack to many an after party. Our discovery of the one-man-soundsystem we refer to couldn't have happened at a more fitting time. His meteoric rise to stardom has unfolded before our very eyes and to the sound of his uplifting house and disco beats. His hit track 'Criticize' among others have been lauded by Radio 1 with Annie Mac evidently a huge fan. Can't be bad...

Sheffield, we are giddy with excitement to be bringing Maxxi up north for your lovely Yorkshire ears.

Check the pawdcast here:

And while we're at it check it this downright RUDE D'Julz podcast: http://www.rexclub.com/rex-club-podcast-radio

Did we mention that this party will be powered by a dutty great Funktion One ghetto blaster?
