Personal details of 43 million car user to be sent to India

The names, addresses, DOBs and credit card details of 43 million drivers in the UK are to be 'offshored' to India under an secret agreement made by the government.

How on Earth this isn't a breach of the Data Protection Act on a massive scale is beyond me.

Because the DPA has a clause which allows contracting out and outsourcing of sensitive data if it's justified, and the outsource company has been thoroughly checked to ensure it complies with our DPA standards.
